Mobile Development: Cross-platform vs Native
One of the most important questions for the mobile application customer is choosing between cross-platform and native development.
We used to believe in two things about native development:
  • it is a sort of mainstream for large businesses;
  • the applications written in native languages are faster because they address directly to the OS (operating system) kernel.
This is because iOS and Android officially have languages like Objective-C, Swift (for iOS) and Java, Kotlin (for Android). So they are recognized by platforms as standard development tools.

At the same time, cross-platform development technologies have really progressed recently. Digital giants such as Google, Facebook, and Tinder use these solutions in their products.

One of the fundamental metrics in modern business is time to market (TTM). Typically, cross-platform solutions allow applications to go into production faster. A standard MVP release takes about 3–5 months.

Typically, the agency unambiguously advises either a native or a cross-platform solution. But this choice mostly depends on the exact technology stack prevailing at the implementer and the team’s strong points.

Globus IT has no such constraint-based preferences, as we have expertise not only in native languages but also in Flutter, React Native, Xamarin, Cordova, Ionic, and Titanium.

Before starting a project, we carry out a comprehensive audit of the task and assess the real need for a particular technology. We indicate this in our recommendations to the client.

We have extensive experience in developing both native and cross-platform solutions.

For every task and project, we have an individual approach to every solution. So, in the end, it is the customer who chooses between cross-platform or native development. And before you decide, we will ensure that you make the most of the technology.
